Information We Collect

SpellSwap currently does not require users to create an account or log in. We do not currently ask users to directly provide their name, email address, mailing address, payment information, or other account information in order to use the Service.

We may nevertheless collect or process certain technical and usage information as described below.

Usage and Analytics Information

SpellSwap uses Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics" or "GA4") to better understand how visitors use the Service.

Google Analytics may automatically collect information such as:

• pages and features viewed or used;
• session and interaction information;
• approximate geographic location;
• browser type;
• device type and operating system;
• referring information; and
• pseudonymous identifiers used to distinguish browsers or sessions.

SpellSwap currently uses a standard GA4 implementation and does not intentionally provide Google Analytics with names, email addresses, SpellSwap account information, or other information that directly identifies a user.

Searches and Filter Selections

Users may search for Magic: The Gathering cards and apply filters to recommendation results.

SpellSwap does not currently maintain a database of individual users' search histories or filter selections.

Searches, request information, or related technical information may temporarily appear in application or infrastructure logs used for operating, troubleshooting, securing, or maintaining the Service.

Technical and Server Logs

SpellSwap uses cloud infrastructure that may generate technical logs, including services such as AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon CloudWatch.

These logs may include information such as request identifiers, timestamps, application events, errors, and other technical information associated with requests to the Service.

SpellSwap does not intentionally use these logs to build profiles of individual visitors.

Shopping Cart Information

SpellSwap allows users to maintain a shopping cart.

Shopping cart contents are stored locally in the user's browser using browser localStorage. This allows the cart to remain available between visits.

The shopping cart does not currently require a SpellSwap account and is not used by SpellSwap to identify an individual user.

Cart information stored in localStorage remains on the user's device until it is cleared by the user, removed by the browser, or replaced or removed by the Service.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

SpellSwap uses browser storage and may use cookies or similar technologies for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics Cookies

Google Analytics may use first-party cookies, including cookies such as _ga, to distinguish browsers and measure usage of the Service.

These identifiers are used for analytics purposes rather than to identify visitors by name.

Browser Local Storage

SpellSwap uses browser localStorage to preserve shopping cart contents between visits.

Other interface information, such as active filters, the currently selected card, comparison selections, and temporary interface state, is not currently intentionally persisted between browser sessions unless otherwise stated.

How We Use Information

We may use information collected through the Service to:

• provide and operate SpellSwap;
• generate and display card recommendations;
• respond to card searches and filter selections;
• understand how visitors use the Service;
• measure usage and performance;
• diagnose technical issues;
• maintain the security and reliability of the Service;
• prevent misuse or abuse;
• improve SpellSwap's features and user experience;
• measure affiliate referrals; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not currently use SpellSwap search histories to create individual advertising profiles.

Google Analytics

SpellSwap uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand usage of the Service.

Google Analytics may process technical and usage information, including session statistics, approximate geographic information, browser and device information, and pseudonymous identifiers.

SpellSwap currently configures its Google Analytics property with:

• Event data retention: 2 months
• User data retention: 14 months

These settings apply to applicable user-level and event-level information subject to Google Analytics' retention controls. Certain aggregated analytics reports may be retained separately and may not be affected by these retention settings.

Google's handling of information collected through Google Analytics is also governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and terms.

Users may be able to limit analytics-related cookies through their browser settings or other privacy controls available through their browser or device.

TCGplayer Affiliate Links and Impact

SpellSwap participates in the TCGplayer affiliate program, which operates through Impact.

Some links or checkout features on SpellSwap direct users to TCGplayer to purchase cards.

If a user clicks a TCGplayer affiliate link, TCGplayer, Impact, or their service providers may use cookies, identifiers, or similar technologies to determine that the visit or purchase was referred by SpellSwap.

SpellSwap may receive affiliate reporting information such as whether a referral, click, or qualifying purchase occurred.

SpellSwap currently passes an affiliate tracking value identifying SpellSwap as the referral source and indicating use of SpellSwap's checkout functionality. This tracking value is not designed to contain a user's name, email address, SpellSwap account identifier, or other directly identifying information.

SpellSwap may receive a commission from qualifying purchases made through these links.

Purchases are completed through TCGplayer rather than through SpellSwap. SpellSwap does not directly collect or process payment card information for purchases made through TCGplayer.

Information collected by TCGplayer or Impact is subject to those companies' respective privacy policies and practices.

Scryfall Card Data and Images

SpellSwap uses card information and imagery provided by Scryfall.

Card images displayed by SpellSwap are currently loaded directly from Scryfall's cards.scryfall.io infrastructure rather than being downloaded, cached, or served by SpellSwap.

As a result, when a card image is displayed, the user's browser makes a request directly to Scryfall's infrastructure to retrieve that image.

Information associated with those requests is handled according to Scryfall's own systems and practices.

SpellSwap is not affiliated with Scryfall.

Third-Party Services

SpellSwap currently relies on third-party services that may process information in connection with the operation of the Service, including:

• Google Analytics, for website analytics;
• Amazon Web Services (AWS), for application and cloud infrastructure;
• TCGplayer, for card purchasing destinations and affiliate transactions;
• Impact, for affiliate attribution and reporting; and
• Scryfall, for Magic: The Gathering card information and directly hosted card images.

These providers may collect or process information independently under their own privacy policies and terms.

SpellSwap does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on SpellSwap are affiliate links.

If a user makes a qualifying purchase after using one of these links, Artificers Anonymous LLC may receive a commission from TCGplayer. This generally does not increase the price the user pays.

The existence of an affiliate relationship does not change the underlying card recommendation or similarity calculations used by SpellSwap.

Sharing of Information

SpellSwap may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

• operate the Service through vendors and infrastructure providers;
• provide analytics and affiliate functionality described in this Privacy Policy;
• detect or investigate security incidents, fraud, abuse, or technical problems;
• comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other lawful governmental request;
• protect the rights, property, or safety of Artificers Anonymous LLC, our users, or others; or
• complete a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.

SpellSwap does not currently maintain a user-account database containing names, email addresses, or user profiles.

We do not knowingly sell users' directly identifying personal information for monetary consideration.

Certain privacy laws may define terms such as "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" more broadly than ordinary usage. Where such laws apply, users may contact us regarding rights available under applicable law.

Data Retention

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.

Google Analytics information is subject to the retention settings described above and Google's own retention practices.

Shopping cart information stored through localStorage remains on the user's device until it is cleared, removed by the browser, or removed or replaced by the Service.

Technical and operational logs may be retained for periods determined by SpellSwap's infrastructure configuration and as reasonably necessary for operating, securing, diagnosing, and maintaining the Service or complying with legal obligations.

SpellSwap does not currently maintain a persistent database of individual users' search histories.

Your Choices

Cookies

Most browsers allow users to view, block, or delete cookies through browser settings.

Blocking analytics cookies may affect SpellSwap's ability to measure usage but should not prevent access to basic card-search functionality.

Local Storage

Users may remove SpellSwap shopping cart information by clearing site data or local storage through their browser.

Clearing browser storage may remove saved shopping cart contents.

Third-Party Links

Users are not required to purchase cards through SpellSwap's affiliate links in order to use SpellSwap's card-search and recommendation features.

Privacy Rights

Depending on where a user lives and the laws that apply, the user may have rights concerning personal information, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or additional information about how personal information is used.

Because SpellSwap does not currently require accounts and generally does not collect information that directly identifies individual visitors, we may not always be able to associate analytics or technical information with a particular person.

Where required by applicable law, we will respond to valid privacy requests consistent with applicable legal requirements.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the systems used to operate SpellSwap.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet, browser storage, or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

SpellSwap is not directed to children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through user accounts, registrations, or other direct submissions.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances prohibited by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete or otherwise appropriately handle that information.

Users Outside the United States

SpellSwap is operated by Artificers Anonymous LLC and is primarily intended for users in the United States.

Visitors accessing the Service from outside the United States should understand that information associated with use of the Service may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

Users may have additional rights under the laws of their jurisdiction.

External Websites

SpellSwap contains links to third-party websites, including TCGplayer.

When a user leaves SpellSwap and visits another website, the privacy practices of that website apply. This Privacy Policy does not govern information independently collected by third-party websites after the user leaves SpellSwap.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as SpellSwap changes, including if we introduce new features, accounts, data collection practices, service providers, or legal requirements.

When changes are made, update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the Privacy Policy.

Material changes may also be communicated through the Service where appropriate.
